Front page of today’s Srilankan state owned English Sunday newspaper Observer was splashed with articles supporting the New Prime Minister.
This was the first edition after the sacking of incumbent Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe.
Sunday Observer Editor Dharisha Bastians tweeted saying she had to cede editorial control of Sunday Observer to the unions and that she was “not willing to be coerced into towing an editorial line”.
“Today I had to leave Lake House unable to carry out my editorial duties. I was asked to cede editorial control of @observerlk by #SLPP unions inside the premises, supported by an MP who called my staff,” she tweeted yesterday.
