UNP Official Facebook page said it has begun collecting signatures from MPs for an impeachment motion against President Sirisena according to media reports.
However shortly afterwards removes reference of signing an impeachment motion against President Sirisena from their official Facebook page “We are currently only discussing it” according to MP Mujibur Rahman.
President Maithripala Sirisena on Friday (Oct 26) sacked his Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe (UNP) and appointed former president Mahinda Rajapakse as the new premier, the president’s office said.
Sri Lankan Political parties were seen scrambling to align with the two main factions. Some parties have already made decisions pledging their alliances.
